THE OLD FASHION MASONIC PODCAST
R:.W:. Brian Byrd, Host
Why the channel exists
The Old Fashion Masonic Podcast was born from a simple need; the need for an honest, unfiltered look at the reality of Freemasonry. Brian, our host, started with the goal of showing his Lodge the diverse faces of their membership, but as the channel grew, so did the mission. Today, we aren't just talking about history, we are holding the fraternity accountable. We discuss the successes and failures of lodges, we shine a light on those creating fake or bogus Masonic orders, and we aren't afraid to ask hard questions when legitimate Grand Lodges fail to uphold the standards we all swore to protect. We are NOT YOUR VANILLA Masonic Podcast.

Myth vs. Fact
Myth: Masons are secret societies.
Fact: Freemasonry is not a secret society. Masons publicly identify themselves, have websites, buildings, and community events. Some traditions and ceremonies are kept private
Myth: Masonry is a cult.
Fact: Freemasonry is not a cult. Members are free to leave at any time and are encouraged to maintain their own beliefs, family relationships, and personal independence.
Myth: Masons wear a uniform.
Fact: Masons do not wear uniforms. Members typically dress in business attire, with ceremonial aprons and regalia worn only during certain meetings and events.
Myth: Masonry is for men only.
Fact: The jurisdictions that we are involved with invite men, for all backgrounds, who seek to live by the principles of brotherhood and the pursuit of knowledge.
Myth: Masons are wealthy.
Fact: Freemasonry welcomes men from all walks of life. Members include teachers, tradesmen, first responders, business owners, and retirees. Many different wealth statuses are within a lodge, but none of it matters.
Myth: Masonry is a religion.
Fact: Freemasonry is not a religion. It welcomes men of many faiths and does not offer a path to salvation or replace a member's religious beliefs. We do not admit Atheists though.
